Brief History of New Zealands
The breed, despite its name, was founded in the United State. It was created to be a commercial rabbit with both and meat and fur qualities. It is believed that Belgian Hares, Angoras and possibly other white breeds were used in the creation of this breed. Several strains of the breed occurred simultaneously throughout the country.
